These will be posted in the order I receive them.

What is your name?
Roxanne Lewis

What is your Etsy shop? Does your shop name have a meaning?
Homespun Treasures

Why “Homespun Treasures?” Homespun is a utilitarian kind of spinning. Those things knit with homespun lasted. We may not be spit and polish, but we intend to last. So we thought that with the spinning connection and the homey feel of HomeSpun Alpacas, our name was born.

Besides your Etsy shop, do you sell anywhere else? Do you have a website or blog?
My blog about alpaca farming is at http://www.homespunalpacas.com/Blog.htm

I also added my etsy page to my website. If you want to see my alpacas they have pictures here too. http://www.homespunalpacas.com

How long have you been making art/crafting? What was the first thing you remember making?
I have been spinning for about 9 years. I have been knitting for about 20, but only in the last 10 years or so did I discover Elizabeth Zimmerman. She changed the way I look at knitting projects and how I go about teaching others to knit.

What’s your favorite thing to make?
I love to spin, especially the colorful fibers. The yarn that it becomes is like a present!

What is your favorite place to work?
My fiber arts studio – it has all my stuff in it and it has the audio books.

What inspires you? Where does your inspiration come from?
I really don’t know.

What is your favorite color? Do you tend to work with that color, or do you find yourself working with other colors?
My favorite color is blue. I don’t tend to use that color though unless the result is going to be for me. I like working with colors, multiple colors is even better, probably why I like knitting with two colors at once.

Do you prefer a specific type of fiber?
I prefer alpaca :) However, I really like to spin corriedale and merino too.

Is there any other kind of art (fiber-related or not) that you’d like to learn?
I am learning to weave. It is a challenge, but I really like the result.

Tell us a bit about yourself- where do you live, what’s your job, do you have a spouse/children/pets, any other hobbies, that kind of thing.
I live in Lake Stevens, Washington. I have 13 alpacas, 5 chickens, 2 dogs a DH and a DS. I ride my bike on the Centennial Trail, makes me feel like a kid again. I am a technical writer by trade. I get to work from home which makes it an easy commute.

Do you have any advice for other fiber artists? Have any craft room, storage, or other tips?
Always label your fiber and skeins! It is so easy to say, “I will remember what this is”, but then draw a complete blank when you find it, again, in your stash.
